Gwyrdd Bangla Project site visit

Following the successful Ynni Cymru funding award last year, we’ve been busy overseeing the installation of renewable technologies at seven mosques and community buildings across South Wales.

The Gwyrdd Bangla project has provided a combination of:

  • Solar electricity generation (PV)
  • Battery storage
  • Solar thermal heating
  • Electric vehicle (EV) charging points

This initiative was designed to significantly reduce carbon emissions, ease the financial burden of rising energy costs, and support a just transition to a greener future—rooted in community empowerment and collaboration.

“The Gwyrdd Bangla project proves that climate action can be community-driven, inclusive, and culturally connected” said Jon, Executive Director at Ynni Teg

By integrating renewable energy into the daily operations of these essential buildings, Gwyrdd Bangla demonstrates how faith-based institutions can lead the way in environmental stewardship.
